While Alice was away over the school holidays I decided to makeover her room. My budget was limited and I think I managed to achieve quite a bit for under $200.
First of all I wanted to do something about the ugly venetian blinds in this room that we inherited with the house. I used a branch that I found in Centennial Park (again) after I managed to wrest it from Scarlette – she did carry it home after all, I put it up in a place that even she can’t get to! Don’t worry she bought another home the next day.
I then found an old doona cover that I really loved but unfortunately had become too delicate to use and cut it in thirds. Using one third I then made it longer by sewing a piece to the bottom. Some pretty ribbons used as ties at the top through the doona button holes and some ribbon to tie it back and it was complete.
In this scene you can see one of the shelves that are placed around the room. We put these up to stop Scarlette from getting Alice’s precious items and it seems to work most of the time. I painted the bed which was black a lovely pale aqua. The picture frame was also given a makeover in pink. On the shelf is a collection of Bambi memorabilia and bunting decorates the shelve to match the curtain.
We put this shelf up so that Alice could hang her schoolbag and roller skates. It also has a shelf above for precious objects. I painted it in Dulux Chalk USA half strength semi gloss.
One of my briefs for the room was that Max the giraffe had to stay. Max came to live with me about 30 years ago so he is almost vintage
I painted the other picture a pale pink colour. Below the picture you can see a family of mini Maxes. Again bunting was added to match.

Are those furby’s I see on the shelf?? Maybe Gremlins??;)
Yes they are Furbies; 2 originals and 1 new. You can also see 2 Blythe dolls which are spooky little dolls that change eye colour.
